ew

Ok, I promise my incisions do not really look as bad as the picture. The redness is apparently caused by the super sticky adhesive on the bandages I've been using - which seems to bond to my skin and irritate it.

care for a swim?

This guy was demanding to be fed some yummy hot dogs and marshmallows. (And I hate to say it, but gators are actually quite yummy themselves!)

this is not a wig

When taking a picture leaning over the camera, my hair appears to be transported to 1987. Scary, isn't it?

eclipsed by a streetlight

Lucky random shot out the car window while driving back from a pointless doctor's appointment in Baltimore. But - my stitches are out!

the frozen series

I finally got some of my own photography framed and up on the wall. Also - I learned how to do the framing myself - why haven't I ever tried this before? No more pre-assembled store bought frames for me! (Though, I'm not sure about keeping the ice photos on the wall, considering how much I hate cold weather!)

sometimes I get a little sad that Kermit isn't real

Larry bought me the DVD boxed set of "The Muppet Show" Season One to watch during my recovery. It's awesome. Yes, I am 28 and I find the antics of Kermit, Piggy, Animal, and the Swedish Chef absolutely hysterical. (And I love it when Kermit makes the face shown above!) It's the perfect thing to watch when you aren't feeling well. And as you can see below, I've been a Kermit fan from a very early age:

the carnage

I had hip surgery. They put my leg in traction to pull my femur away from my pelvis. They put a camera into my hip joint! I had a labral debridement and partial synovectomy. They did this all through two tiny incisions - one stitch in each - modern medicine is amazing!

patched up

These big bandages make it look like I'm stowing a couple of Twinkies in my shorts! And the betadine makes it look like I actually have a tan.

the mark of a klutz

Alas, this has nothing to do with my surgery. This is where I backed my ass into the corner of a table. A very sharp corner.

rotten luck, rotten berries

My day started with a three car pile-up. (Not my fault.) My surgery is in two days. I went home looking forward to treating myself to the summer's last delicious red strawberries that I had bought just yesterday. WTF?

heart of stone

Larry found this stone on the beach in Washington and brought it back for me. All I had to welcome him back was the promise of a surprise in the future (making him wait to find out!). I certainly hope he isn't saying that I have a "heart of stone" because I think he has a heart of gold. (Awww.)

look what I found while cleaning out my bedroom

There are no children in my house and yet I find this guy lurking behind my bedroom mirror. Why do I have a rubber fish? They were used to serve shots of alcohol at a restaurant in the Caribbean.
Apparently, this carnivorous fish has been surviving on a diet of dust bunnies.
